Test results showed the tumor removed from UNC basketball coach Roy Williams’ left kidney is not cancerous, the school said Thursday night in a release.
Williams had a biopsy Wednesday.
Doctors earlier removed a tumor from his right kidney. Test results showed that also was not cancerous, and doctors said they hoped for a similar result with the left kidney.
Dr. Eric Wallen said Williams will not need surgery on his left kidney. “The result of the biopsy of the tumor on the left side is great news for Coach Williams and his family,” Wallen said, according to the release. “He is recovering very well and we will continue to follow his progress. In the meantime, he can return to his normal schedule, including the team’s first practice on October 13th.”
